How to Remove Dog Hair From Your Clothes Easily

Unless your pup belongs to one of the few shed-resistant breeds in the world, you probably have to contend with shedding on a daily basis. While many pet parents might say that fur is just a part of what makes a house a home, it's a different story when it's all over your clothes, and you have to show up in the real world for work, errands, and social calls. Unfortunately, you can't just dust pet hair off your clothes. To face the world fur-free, here are some tools that should help you out:

Lint Roller

The lint roller is the classic dog hair removal tool, but one that gets lots of flak because there are many cheap versions that don't really work. If you find the right one, however, all it takes is two passes, at most, to get your clothes free of fur.

Although this might involve plenty of roll replacements, they're relatively cheap, and there are even small versions that you can conveniently keep in your bag or car.

If you ever run out of lint roller refills, packaging tape will work just as well. Although it won't be as easy as gliding a roller over your clothes, it's definitely capable of doing the job in a pinch.

All you have to do is take a large piece of tape and apply it sticky-side-down on your clothes. When you remove it, the pet hair should come off with it. You can reuse the same piece of tape until it's no longer sticky.

Rubber Brush

The same rubber brush you use to groom your dog, loosen their undercoat, and shed dead hair will work wonders on your clothes. The rubber bristles will gently brush off any fur that's stuck in the fabric.

Just be sure you use a clean brush to avoid getting your outfit dirty. Better yet, get one to use exclusively for your clothes. If your pup wears dog clothes, this is also a good tool to remove the fur that accumulates in the lining.

The same rubber gloves you use for dishwashing or cleaning around the house can remove fur and hair from fabric very well. All you need to do is put them on and glide your hand over your hairy clothes.

Depending on the material you're trying to remove hair from, you might even find that getting the glove slightly wet makes it even more effective.

Although there exist some highly specialized pet hair removal tools, these inexpensive and easy-to-find options work just fine. What should work even better is to find ways to make dog shedding more manageable at home. Other than brushing them regularly, among the best things to do is to keep your pup in a dog hoodie so that shed hair clings to their clothes instead of yours. Otherwise, just keep these tools handy to easily remove dog hair in your clothing before you head out.
